Tom Eckersley has earned a one-year contract at Accrington Stanley.

The 20-year-old defender was released by Bolton Wanderers at the end of last season, and he has recently been training with League Two side Accrington.

And Eckersley has obviously done enough to impress manager Paul Cook, who has handed him a one-year contract ahead of the new season.

“I must have impressed enough to get it," he said. "There were a lot of lads here on trial at the start and I just had to believe in myself and do the best I could."
