Accrington lose out to leaders Brentford
11:30 AM 20 April, 2009
Brentford's 3-0 home win over Accrington Stanley on Saturday leaves them poised for automatic promotion at the top of League Two.

Sam Williams struck first first for the Bees after eight minutes, sending a looping header from Karleigh Osborne's cross-field ball over the head of Stanley keeper Kenny Arthur.

Ryan Dickson made it two just half-time when he latched onto a Sam Wood through ball and slotted home into the far corner.

And Billy Clarke completed the scoring after 54 minutes when he coolly scored from the penalty spot after Sam Williams was fouled.

Mid-table Accrington rarely threatened, their best effort from James Ryan forcing a finger-tip save from Brentford keeper Ben Hamer.

Accrington boss John Coleman said, "We never got out of the traps and if you don't start well in a place like this you're always up against it.

"I was very disappointed with the way we approached the game which was why I tried to change things around with three substitutes after the break."
