The R's begin life under Jim Magilton with a pre-season trip to Aldershot this weekend before jetting off to Slovenia for a training camp.

With Damien Delaney and Lee Camp having left the club already this summer, attention is now turning to potential new faces to bolster the squad.

Argentine midfielder Alejandro Damian Faurlin is a name in the frame while Irish striker David Connolly, a free agent after leaving Sunderland, is on trial with the club and likely to get his chance at the Recreation Ground.

"We've got a few irons in the fire," Magilton told the club website late last week, "but I'm not going to bring players in just for the sake of it."
