Arjen Robben has likened Tottenham Hotspur Football Club’s Rafael van der Vaart to Cesc Fabregas, in praise even the most ardent White Hart Lane fan would accept!

Harry Redknapp paid £8million on deadline day to lure Dutch international van der Vaart from Real Madrid, and his compatriot has been speaking of the transfer.

Robben is clearly impressed with Spurs latest signing, claiming the playmaker is already the best player in their squad and on a par with Arsenal skipper Fabregas.

“For fans who have not seen a lot of him, I would compare him to Fabregas,” he said in the Daily Mail. “He can play wide, but his ideal position is playing in the middle of the park as playmaker.

“Spurs can play him as they wish but he is by far the most talented player in their squad. If they don’t build the team around him in the middle, it will be a big waste.”
