Southampton have made an enquiry as to Theo Walcott’s availability.

The England international made his name at St Mary’s as a youngster, before clinching a £9.1million move to Arsenal in the summer of 2006 when just 16.

Walcott is now in the final 12 months of his contract at the Emirates Stadium, and will likely leave in the coming weeks if he has not agreed a fresh deal.

It is believed the Saints have been in touch with the Gunners regarding the 23-year-old forward, who they are willing to pay £15million for ahead of the new season.
