Aston Villa Football Club’s Brad Friedel believes the race for a top-four Premier League finish will go all the way to the final day of an intriguing season.

Villa, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur all dropped points on Saturday, which allowed perennial top-four finishers Liverpool to move into the final UEFA Champions League spot.

The Reds are now considered favourites by many to remain in this position, but Friedel believes there will be many more twists from now until the end of the season.

"I can't remember it being this tight for the Champions League places," said the goalkeeper. "It used to be the top two going away then the next two on their own.

“It'll be different this time. I would think it will go to the end, looking at the results this season. Clubs are dropping points and it's going to make it exciting."
