Adam Clayton is a target for Aston Villa Football Club.

Alex McLeish faces a fight to retain Villa’s Premier League status this season, but this hasn’t stopped him from making plans for next term.

The Scot is thought to have made former Manchester City youngster Clayton a top target, after Leeds United surprisingly placed the player on the transfer list.

The midfielder has failed to agree a new contract at Elland Road and is expected to leave in the summer, when McLeish could table a bid of £3million for his signature.
