Aston Villa have set their sights on signing Matt Phillips.

Paul Lambert left Norwich City for the Midlands giants earlier this summer, and he is determined to steer them to a top-ten finish next season.

The Scot has been told he has cash available to spend to bolster his squad, and has already brought in Matthew Lowton, Karim El Ahmadi, and Brett Holman.

Lambert has now set his sights on 21-year-old Blackpool winger Phillips, who he hopes to lure to Villa Park in a £3.5million transfer during the course of the week.
