Arsenal legend has sympathy for Fabregas
Thierry Henry admits he wouldn’t like to be in Cesc Fabregas’ shoes, as the midfielder seeks to leave Arsenal Football Club for Barcelona this summer.
Henry left the Gunners for the Catalan giants in 2007, having previously spoken of his admiration for the Camp Nou club, and he spent three years there before recently joining the New York Red Bulls.
It’s a different scenario altogether for Fabregas, though, as he grew up in the Barca youth team before making the decision to head to England in the summer of 2003.
The Emirates Stadium skipper has revealed he wants to return to Catalonia during the summer window, yet Arsene Wenger continues to insist the player is not for sale.
Henry admits he has sympathy for the predicament Fabregas faces, and he admits he would understand it is the Spaniard returned him ahead of the new season.
“It is hard because the guy is from Barcelona. I wouldn't like to be in his shoes that's all I can say," Henry said. "I wouldn't like to be in his position because he is from there and he loves Arsenal.
“I don't know what to say about this, because I don't want to talk for him. But as an Arsenal fan, for me, I want him to stay at Arsenal, but I would also understand if he goes back home."
