Rob Kozluk has extended his Barnsley contract in favour of a switch to Selhurst Park.
The 31-year-old told BBC Radio Sheffield: "It's fantastic to be staying because I never wanted to leave.
"The fact I turned down a long contract at Palace shows my commitment to this club. I'm confident that we can be successful next season."
Ex-Sheffield United full-back Kozluk has made 61 league appearances for Barnsley since a 2007 move to Oakwell.
Another player unlikely to land up with the Eagles is free agent forward Leroy Lita, set to leave Reading in the next few days.
"I did have a chat with his agent at the end of the season but financially I don't think we can get anywhere near him," said Palace chief Neil Warnock.
"I'll never say anything is dead because it depends what offers he gets. But he's not a priority - I've got to try and get a taller man in."
