Alex McLeish has told his Birmingham City players they aren’t safe from relegation just yet.

The Blues have been the surprise package of the Premier League season this term, and currently sit comfortable in eighth position in the top-flight.

This has set fans dreaming of a place in Europe next season, but McLeish is wary that a couple of damaging results could see them engulfed in a relegation scrap.

“I don't think you can stop and say 37 points is fine," said the Scottish coach, who welcomes Wolverhampton Wanderers to St Andrews on Sunday.

"They say 40 is the magical cut-off point. You would say with the way things are at the moment we would be safe, no danger but I don't think we can afford to look too far ahead.”
