Everton Football Club have missed a huge opportunity in their quest for European football.

A win at Birmingham City would have drawn the Toffees level in the Premier League table on Saturday, and goals from Victor Anichebe and Yakubu had them firmly in the driving seat.

However, the Merseyside club slipped up after conceding two goals to the home side, meaning both left the game with a share of the spoils.

“I've always said we're playing catch up because of the start that we had to the season so we will see where it goes,” David Moyes told Sky Sports.

"At the moment, today's result didn't help them, didn't help us, doesn't really close the gap on anybody above us and the games are running out. So we missed a big opportunity today.”
