Rafael Benitez has swerved another war of words with Sam Allardyce, by claiming he doesn’t know who the Blackburn Rovers Football Club boss is.

The pair have been involved in a long-running verbal feud, with the latest episode coming when Allardyce told Sky Sports of his dislike for the Liverpool coach.

When this was relayed to the Spaniard, his reply may have been delivered in jest, but left no doubt that the feeling was mutual: "Who? No comment. No publicity for him."

Benitez was speaking after his side went down to a 1-0 UEFA Europa League defeat in France to Lille, a result which most probably gave Allardyce cheer.
