Former Bournemouth loanee Rhoys Wiggins will not leave Crystal Palace on a free transfer.

Wiggins is a candidate to return to Dean Park but a fee could prove the stumbling block for any deal involving the ex-U-21 Wales international.

Palace assistant boss said of Wiggins, "Rhoys is a talented young man and if he comes back to us and proves in pre-season he can steer clear of injuries then the door is wide open.

"But, alternatively, he is also within the confines of compensation and it is not in the club`s interest to just give a player a free transfer when they have got a value."
