Gary Johnson insists he is not trying to sign Manchester City’s Kasper Schmeichel.

Bristol City have been heavily linked with the Blues back-up goalkeeper, but the Ashton Gate manager is baffled by the speculation he wants to sign the 22-year-old Dane.

"I don't know where these things emanate from," said Johnson. "I think one person tells another and then it becomes fact. Don't believe everything you hear from the man down the pub.

“Only believe it if I'm quoted."
