Eagles places Everton on summer alert
Chris Eagles admits he is likely to leave Burnley Football Club if they are relegated this season.
A 2-1 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday has made the Clarets red-hot favourites for a return to the Championship, despite their early season promise.
One of the bright notes for the Turf Moor outfit this term has been the form of Eagles, and Brian Laws will face a fight to keep hold of the 24-year-old should they suffer relegation.
"I'm still really ambitious - I want to play in the UEFA Champions League and for England. To do that I'd need to be in the Premier League,” said Eagles.
“So if Burnley went down I'd have to think seriously. I couldn't go back down into the Championship at this stage in my career and I know there would be offers."
Everton have been heavily linked with the former Manchester United midfielder in the past, and manager David Moyes is expected to make a move for him during the summer window.
