Cardiff City Football Club boss Dave Jones has confirmed his interest in Darron Gibson.

The 22-year-old Republic of Ireland international, who enjoyed a loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers during the 2007-08 season, has broken into the Manchester United side this term.

Gibson has featured six times in the Premier League for the Reds, and for this reason, Bluebirds boss Jones feels he will be out of reach, although it won’t stop him trying for a loan deal.

"Why would Darron Gibson come here when he's playing for United?" Jones is quoted in the News of the World. "We've enquired about him in the past.

“I will go back to Sir Alex Ferguson and ask him again about Darron. I will probably get the same answer as I did last time. He will chuckle down the phone and say 'Get lost!'”
