Jay Bothroyd is flattered to be linked with Aston Villa Football Club.

Martin O’Neill was initially linked with the former Arsenal youngster in the summer, and he could try again for the player before the end of the month.

Although Bothroyd insists he is happy at the Bluebirds and concentrated fully on their promotion bid, he also admits to being flattered by the interest from Villa.

“Obviously you are flattered when you get linked with other clubs, especially the likes of Aston Villa,” he told the official club website. “But I am fully committed to Cardiff City.

“I just want to concentrate on doing well for them. It’s an honour to be linked (with Villa), but as a professional I have to put that to the back of my mind and play well for Cardiff.”
