Peter Whittingham is a target for Sunderland Football Club.

The former Aston Villa winger, who made over fifty appearances in the Premier League from 2003 to 2007, is currently impressing in the Championship for Cardiff City.

Whittingham has scored an impressive fifteen goals in 28 games for the Bluebirds, who will struggle to retain his services next season if they fail to clinch promotion.

Reports in The Journal claim Steve Bruce has already set his sights on the 25-year-old, who would relish the opportunity to prove himself in the top-flight.
