Colchester have agreed a deal to make David Fox their first signing of the summer.

Available on a free transfer next month, the 25-year-old former Manchester United man met with Paul Lambert ahead of the move.

"As a man, he was very sincere and precise in his thoughts," Fox told the U's website. "And his aim was very clear.

"He wasn't saying we could do this or we could do that - he said he wants to get promoted this season and that appealed to me straight away.

"I don't want to be out of the Championship for too long and this is a great opportunity to get back. Everything here is set up for that, so I am really looking forward to being a part of it."
