Coventry City Football Club are closing on Martin Cranie.

The former Southampton youngster impressed for England during the under-21 European Championships this summer, and his former hasn’t gone unnoticed.

It is believed the Sky Blues are closing on a deal for Cranie, who has struggled to make an impact with Portsmouth since his move from the Saints in the summer of 2007.

The Championship side sold Daniel Fox to Scottish giants Celtic this summer, and they will table his potential replacement a three-year deal at the Ricoh Arena if he passes a medical on Wednesday.
