Coventry City Football Club appear unlikely to sign Sam Vokes.

The Sky Blues had been trying to strike a deal for the Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster for the past few weeks, but it appears as though the deal is off.

“The option for him to go to Coventry may well have gone, because it hasn’t been done,” said Wolves boss Mick McCarthy. “It was set up to be done but they didn’t do it.

“So we’ll see because there are a few clubs that want him. More than likely a loan will happen, but not just yet because he’s gone away with Wales.”
