Sunderland Football Club are expected to bid for Kieran Westwood this month.

Steve Bruce already has Craig Gordon and Marton Fulop at his disposal at the Stadium of Light, but reports suggest he is keen to sign Westwood in January.

The 25-year-old Coventry City goalkeeper, who was on Manchester City’s books earlier in his career, has made almost 90 Championship appearances over the past two seasons.

The Sky Blues insist they will do all they can to keep the twice-capped Republic of Ireland shot-stopper, but they are braced for an approach from the Black Cats.
