Derby County target John Brayford insists he would have no problem staying at Gresty Road next season.

The 21-year-old is wanted by his former Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough as well as two other Championship clubs.

He told The Sentinel however: "The situation is that I'm still a Crewe player. It's nice to be linked with other clubs, but I'm more than happy to stay.

"I sat down with Gudjon (Alex boss Thordarson) recently and he said there was a possibility I could move on, but that he wanted me to stay.

"That would give me a full season to work with him.

"But sometimes a situation can be taken out of your hands. If I did move, I'd hope the transfer fee would help Crewe bring in a few fresh faces, which Gudjon wants to do."
