Crewe manager Gudjon Thordarson has admitted missing out on a second signing after capturing defender Patrick Ada from Histon.
Thordarson told the club's official website, "I nearly had another one yesterday but the deal cracked late yesterday. That is the nature of the game and sometimes deals can go out of your hands. You can do very little about it. You can be very close to it and then something happens that you cannot control.
"That is what you have to deal with and all you can do is move on to the next target. Everything has to be right. The finances and the football has to be right."
