Jamie Chandler and David Dowson have joined Darlington Football Club.

Midfielder Chandler and striker Dowson are both contracted to Premier League side Sunderland, but they have joined the League Two club on an initial 28-day loan.

"It's great that we've managed to bring Jamie and David in," said manager Colin Todd. "We thought 28 days was fair to all parties. It enables us to have a look at them and them to get a feel for us as well.

"If it works out then we might look to extend the deals. They both offer me good cover up front and in midfield and they both go into the squad for Saturday (Aldershot away)."
