Derby County Football Club hope to take James Vaughan back this month.
The 21-year-old forward joined the Rams in September on loan, but he made just two appearances before a knee injury ended his stint at Pride Park.
Vaughan has since regained his fitness at Everton and has scored twice in the last two games, but Clough remains hopeful David Moyes will let him leave on loan again.
"We have spoken to Everton and they will know a bit more about him in a couple of weeks when they have got their targets sorted out," he said.
"He is one we are going to wait for as long as we can. I see he scored for Everton again. He's got two in two games now, I hope he doesn't do too well because they might not let him come out on loan."
