Everton would hope to tie up a deal for Clint Dempsey as soon as possible.

The US midfielder has enjoyed a sensational season for Fulham, and with just a year left on his contract, he has been linked with a summer exit from the club.

Reports at the weekend suggest the Toffees are lining up a £4million bid for Dempsey, and David Moyes has indicated a bid could be made as soon as the window opens.

"If you can do your recruitment early it makes a big difference to your group and gives them a chance to bed-in and you get better results sooner," said the Scot.
