Aston Villa Football Club could move for Pavel Pogrebnyak in the summer.
The Russian international is currently impressing during a loan spell at Fulham, and his contract at Stuttgart is set to come to a close at the end of the season.
Martin Jol wants to keep Pogrebnyak, 28, at Craven Cottage on a permanent deal, but it appears as though he will face competition for the striker from Villa.
“I’ve been in touch with his agent over the past few years trying to sign him, but the timing hasn’t quite been right,” manager Alex McLeish told the Birmingham Mail.
“Will the timing be right in the summer? I don’t want to be in the bad books with Fulham talking about their player, I need to be careful what I’m saying.”
