Gillingham defeated Shrewsbury 1-0 at Wembley in the League Two play-off final to win promotion to League One.
Striker Simeon Jackson scored the only goal with a late header as Gillingham dramatically won the League Two play-off final at Wembley.
Jackson, the Gills' top scorer, got free at the back post to head home a Josh Wright corner for his 21st goal of the season in second-half stoppage-time.
The Shrews had dominated the second half at Wembley with their best chance falling to Kevin McIntyre but he headed wide.
The Gills had been on top in the first-half with John Nutter's powerful shot diverted over the top by a combination of Grant Holt and goalkeeper Luke Daniels.
In injury-time Wright drilled a low shot across goal through a cluster of players but Daniels made a sharp save diving low to his right.
Shrewsbury's first real effort came 10 minutes before the interval when Ben Davies sent a 30-yard free-kick just wide.
And after the break Davies pounced on a misdirected defensive header from Simon King and forced Simon Royce into action with a stinging volley.
