Hartlepool have snapped up Leon McSweeney from cash-strapped Stockport County.

'Pool boss Chris Turner told the club website, "He plays wide right which has been a problem area for us - we have tried several players out there and they have done the job well but we know that is not their preferred position.

"Leon brings us something extra, he has great movement, great footballing attributes and work ethic. That is what we are trying to bring to the Club.

"He likes to be involved in the action and I think he is an infectious sort of character. You just have to sit down and talk to him to see how ambitious he is. He wants to do well for himself and for the team that he plays for."
