Peter Hartley is on the verge of leaving Sunderland Football Club, according to reports.

The 21-year-old defender is out of contract at t he Stadium of Light this summer, and reports suggest he has agreed a deal to sign for Hartlepool United.

Hartley, who was born in Hartlepool, has made just one appearance for the Black Cats, although he does have first team experience from a spell on loan at Chesterfield.
