Matt Doherty expects to return to Wolverhampton Wanderers next season.

The 20-year-old has impressed during a loan spell in Scotland with Hibernian since January, helping them to a Scottish Cup Final date with neighbours Hearts.

However, Doherty fully plans to return to Wolves in time for next term, which the Molineux club will spend in the Championship following their relegation.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here and have adjusted well to living away from my family and friends over the past few months,” the defender told Sky Sports.

“Wolves got relegated, but whether they were going to be playing in the Championship or not I'd fully expect to be challenging more for a first-team opportunity there next season.”
