Stoke City Football Club will have to pay £3million for Alex Smithies.

Tony Pulis is said to be keen to land the young goalkeeper in January, and in doing so he would beat competition from a number of Premier League rivals.

However, The Mirror claim Huddersfield Town want a fee of £3million to consider releasing Smithies, who is rated as one the best young shot-stoppers in teh country.

The 19-year-old has represented England at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level, and has been tipped to challenge for full honours in the future.
