Keane wants to keep Sunderland youngster
12:43 PM 02 January, 2010
Roy Keane wants to keep Jack Colback for the rest of the season.

The Sunderland midfielder has been on loan at Ipswich Town since the summer, but he is expected back at the Stadium of Light this month.

However, Keane hopes to keep Colback, 20, at Portman Road for the rest of the season, having been impressed with the player’s contribution in fourteen Championship fixtures.

"I have spoken to Brucie (Sunderland boss Steve Bruce) and hopefully Jack will be here until the end of the season," he told the club's official website.

"Brucie knows he's playing games here and getting experience and that's what you want when you send players out on loan. Jack's done well for us and he has a chance of being a top player.”

Crystal Palace striker Stern John, meanwhile, has extended his loan stay with the Tractor Boys for another month, and he could also play against Blackpool in the FA Cup on Saturday.
