Kevin Kyle's double gave Killie a vital win on Wednesday night and underlined what a shrewd signing the big striker was when he left Coventry for Rugby Park in January.

"Kevin Kyle has scored the last six goals for us - that's how valuable he is," said boss Jim Jefferies after the basement battle.

St Mirren are now bottom of the table and manager Gus MacPherson commented: "It's difficult to take because I didn't think there was a lot in the game.

"I thought we played pretty well and dictated the tempo for good periods in the game as well."
