Kyle fires Killie to safety
08:02 PM 16 May, 2009
Kevin Kyle will go down as one of the SPL's buys of the season after the big striker netted another crucial goal on Saturday.

The former Coventry man scored the winner against Inverness to leave Killie safe and the visitors still looking over their shoulders.

"There were a lot of nerves today and Inverness have been stuffy opponents for us this season," said boss Jim Jefferies.

"We were much better in the second half and we could've killed them off when they were pushing forward.

"Getting seven points from the last nine has been a fabulous achievement. We knew with three games at home that it was in our own hands.

"Last year we were 11th, so we've improved. All the players have worked hard as they knew this season was going to be tight.

"Five teams being involved in relegation doesn't happen very often."
