26-year-old Keigan Parker has been told he is surplus to requirements by Huddersfield boss Lee Clark.
Parker is contracted at the Galpharm until 2010 but has been training with Kilmarnock with a view to a possible move.
Killie boss Jim Jefferies told BBC Scotland: "I don't know whether they'll let him go or what the personal terms would be and whether I can afford to bring him in.
"But at least we get to meet the lad and he can get in among the players and get a wee feel for the club.
"But it's far far too early to say whether we would be interested or could do something."
