Derby County fail with striker bid
04:45 PM 31 January, 2011
Derby County Football Club have failed with an offer for Conor Sammon.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has been in great form this season, scoring fifteen goals in 23 appearances in the Scottish Premier League.

According to skysports.com, such form has caught the attention of Rams manager Nigel Clough, who has offered £425,000 for the 24-year-old.

However, this bid falls short of the valuation Kilmarnock have of the striker, and it remains to be seen if the Championship club will make a renewed attempt for his signature.

It's epecially odd that Moxey has been sold - most would say he's first choice LB. When Commons was sold, Tom Glick stated the income would be provided for Clough to sign player(s). The Hulse income was not all swallowed up by Ben Davies, and we're also thus saving 2 big wages with Commons going. If Clough thinks Moxey hasn't "made progress", should he consider whether his coaching team ar entirely effective? We haven't seen much evidence of competent defending lately - even against non-league Crawley. How is the squad being "built responsibly" at present?

At the beginning of this transfer window Clough said we needed 2-3 players to add to the squad, we let 2 loanees go and sell 2 player, 1 happens to be a class act and topscorer and the number1 leftback. we buy1 a net loss of 4. My faith in the board is long gone ripped off and now Clough shows no sign of any real progress. It time for a total change.

Derby County can manage money but I thought we were in the football entertainment business. We are a selling club and the owners do not give two hoots about their 25k loyal fans.We sold Hulse but despite all the noises made we have never replaced him.We have sold our leading scorer but we will not replace him either and now Moxey.Of course we have a great replacement in Gareth Roberts...I think not!! It is time we started voting with our feet as we did with the 3Amigos
