Colchester have signed defender Lee Beevers on a free transfer from League Two side Lincoln.

The right back has agreed a two-year contract and will officially become a United player on July 1.

He told Colchester's official website: "It's a step up for me and something that I've been looking forward to for a long time.

"Playing in League Two last year means it's a step up a league from there and I can't wait for the challenge ahead.

"I played lots of games at full-back last season, despite normally being a centre-half, so I feel that I can adapt to any position."
