Javier Mascherano is waiting for an answer from Liverpool Football Club about a new contract.

The Argentine international is a key member of Rafael Benitez’s side, and the Spanish coach is eager to tie the midfielder to a new contract at Anfield.

Mascherano claims he has made his demands known to the Merseyside club, and he is now waiting for a response before possibly penning a new deal.

"I'm waiting for an answer from Liverpool," he said. "They know what I want so it depends on them and not me. We have been talking about the contract."
