Rodgers plans Sunderland swoop
09:00 PM 13 June, 2012
Liverpool Football Club are lining up a bid for Stephane Sessegnon.

New Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has been told he has cash to spend this summer, and he wants to add to the attacking threat of his current side.

Sessegnon enjoyed a fine season at Sunderland last term, hitting eight goals for the Black Cats as he was named their Player of the Year.

It is believed the Reds are prepared to pay around £12million for the 26-year-old forward, but Martin O’Neill is determined to keep him at the Stadium of Light.

“I don't want to be saying anything categorically at the start of it which will make us look foolish at the end of it," he told the Sunderland Echo.

"But there's no doubt Stephane Sessegnon is a player that we obviously want to keep and we'll be doing everything we can to do so.”
