Aston Villa are set to make their move for Andy Carroll.
It has been established over the course of the past week that the striker has no future at Liverpool, who paid a record £35million for him in January 2011.
The Reds accept they will have to take a huge cut on the striker, but they have already rejected one offer from his former club Newcastle United.
Villa boss Paul Lambert is now set to enter the race to sign Carroll, with a bid of £17million set to be tabled for the 23-year-old England international.
