Champions League a must for Manchester City
Anything less than a top-four finish this season will be a disappointment for Manchester City Football Club, insists Shay Given.
The Blues are five points behind fourth place Tottenham Hotspur, but they have two games in hand, starting with a tricky trip to Fulham on Sunday afternoon.
Liverpool, and maybe Aston Villa, are also in contention for the final UEFA Champions League place, but Given insists this is an absolute must for the expensively assembled City squad.
"It's pretty clear, we all know we've got to try to finish fourth,” he said. "If we don't, it would be a disappointing season. There's pressure on the manager and on the players to try and deliver that.
"We'll push hard in the remaining games and hopefully get across the line and that would be good, to get UEFA Champions League football at Eastlands.
"That would be fantastic and I think it would help to attract a couple of players in the summer as well, to strengthen the squad and move the club forward."
