Arsenal are hoping to lure Nigel de Jong to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger has spent heavily on his attack this summer, but he still hopes to add a tough-tackling midfielder to his options before the start of the season.

De Jong is in the final 12 months of his contract at Manchester City, and despite falling down the pecking order in recent times, he insists he is happy to stay.

However, Wenger would offer the 27-year-old regular first team football with the Gunners, if he can persuade City to sell for around £10million.
