Sheffield United Football Club are closing on Mark Yeates.

The 25-year-old winger only joined Middlesbrough in the summer, and despite featuring 21 times this season, he doesn’t figure in Gordon Strachan’s long-term plans.

The Blades have agreed a £500,000 price with their Championship rivals for Yeates, who will now undergo a medical before completing the move on Monday.

“Wingers have to get up and down the pitch and I think Mark can bring something different to what we already have at the club,” United boss Kevin Blackwell told the official club website.
