Middlesbrough encouraged by Sturridge ruling
04:30 PM 22 January, 2010
Middlesbrough Football Club will seek top dollar for Adam Johnson in the summer.

A number of Premier League clubs are interested in the 22-year-old, including his hometown side Sunderland who have made him a top target.

Johnson is out of contract at the end of the season when he would be available for a compensation fee, and this is the route Boro are likely to go down.

It is believed the Championship side have been encouraged by the Daniel Sturridge situation, whereby Chelsea have been ordered to pay Manchester City £3million.

The striker made just five starts in five years for the Eastlands club, whilst Johnson is a regular at the Riverside Stadium so, in theory, command a bigger figure.
