Sunderland Football Club have not made a bid for Adam Johnson.

Manchester City have confirmed their interest in the Middlesbrough winger, but despite reports to the contrary, Steve Bruce insists the Black Cats have not tabled a bid.

"We haven't made any bid for Adam Johnson," he said. "It's fair to say we have had discussions with Middlesbrough, but we haven't put in any formal bid."

Boro remain determined to keep hold of the 22-year-old for the rest of the season, but with his deal set to expire in the summer, they may yet be persuaded to sell.
