Charlie Adam has played down Middlesbrough Football Club’s interest in him.

Gordon Strachan tried to sign the Blackpool midfielder in the New Year, only for the Lancashire club to reject their offer for the former Rangers star.

"I can't stop the speculation linking me with other clubs but all I'm concentrating on is getting Blackpool as high up this league as possible," Adam told the Daily Record.

"It was flattering to be mentioned with Middlesbrough and Gordon because I scored against his Celtic team at Rangers. He wants players he knows and can trust.”
