Middlesbrough Football Club remain hopeful of sealing the return of Stephen McManus.

The Scotland international made sixteen appearances for Boro during a loan spell in the second half of last season, and Gordon Strachan wants him back at the Riverside Stadium.

The Boro manager is hopeful of coming to a deal with Celtic over the transfer of McManus, who was out of favour at Parkhead when he headed to Teesside last term.

"There's a good possibility of Stephen coming back, but like every deal, it has to be done properly," Strachan told the official club site."We are getting down the line there."
